What is homeopathy?
Homeopathy is a complete system of medicine for the whole family which aims to promote general health by reinforcing the body’s own natural healing capacity. Developed in the late 18th century by Dr Samuel Hahnemann, it is a therapeutic system that has been used worldwide for over 200 years.
Homeopathy is based on the principles that:
‘like cures like’ - a patient with a particular set of symptoms is treated with a substance which could produce similar symptoms in a healthy person.
‘the minimum dose’ – only tiny amounts of homeopathic medicine are needed; so treatment is gentle and safe.
Homeopathy treats the person, not just the illness; this means that treatment is individualised to match your particular symptoms
What can homeopathy treat?
Homeopathy is used to treat everything from acute illnesses such as fevers, sore throats, accidents and injuries, to chronic illnesses such as arthritis, eczema, asthma, hay fever, fertility problems and digestive disorders. It is also effective in treating stress and emotional issues such as anxiety, insomnia and grief. As homeopathy is gentle, it is safe during pregnancy and for children and adults alike.
What are homeopathic remedies?
The remedies used come from many different natural sources including, plants, minerals and metals. As they are highly diluted they are completely safe and non-toxic. They are prepared in licensed laboratories under strict quality control and can be given in tablet, powder or liquid form.
